In order to comply with Fire Department regulations, it is necessary to obtain High Pile Storage permits for any storage that exceeds a height of 12′. These permits dictate the maximum allowable storage height within your building. The determination is based on several factors, such as the type of commodity being stored (Class I-IV, Group A plastics, or High Hazard), as well as the sprinkler system rating within the building. In certain cases, additional measures like in-rack sprinklers may be required in pallet racking, mezzanine floors, catwalks, or other areas to meet code requirements.
