Drive-In racks typically have fewer aisles compared to other rack systems, which maximizes storage density but reduces selectivity. Pallets are stored one behind the other within each lane and level, and the last pallet loaded is usually the first one to be unloaded (LIFO – Last In, First Out).
This system is cost-effective and efficient for warehouses with a high volume of homogenous products and where the FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory management method is not critical.

Drive-in racks offer the highest use of available space in terms of both area and height. Forklifts can drive directly into the rack to allow storage of two or more pallets deep.

Drive-through rack systems are similar to drive-in racks, but they feature entry and exit points on opposite sides of the rack structure. This allows forklifts to drive straight through the rack, accessing pallets from either end. As a result, drive-through racks offer greater selectivity compared to drive-in racks.
